A Miracle!

Started learning piano only in the fourth grade and still got admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music!

Huang Zhiqin, from Jiangyin

began learning piano at Liu Jian Music with no prior experience at the age of 10.

Why is this considered a miracle?

1. Huang Zhiqin began learning piano at Liu Jian Music in the fourth grade, which is a full seven years later than other students admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.

2. Starting piano in the fourth grade meant balancing the demands of school subjects and the pressure of the primary-to-middle school transition.

3. During her piano studies, she had a four-year hiatus, so her actual piano learning time until being admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory was only four and a half years.

4. With small hands, she can currently reach only an octave—eight piano keys—while our student, Ge Hongyu, in first grade, can already reach an octave.

5. Her parents are civil servants with no knowledge of music and are unfamiliar with reading musical notation.

6. Huang Zhiqin lives in Jiangyin, making her piano learning journey even more inconvenient.

Awards and Achievements:

1. In January 2008, won the third prize in the Liu Jian Music "Shi Shucheng Scholarship."

2. In August 2008, after only 2 years of piano study, successfully passed the Grade 8 piano exam at the Central Conservatory of Music.

3. In August 2010, won first prize in three categories at the 19th "American Music Competition" China Finals: Age Group, Contemporary Works, and Chopin & Liszt Advanced Concert Etudes.

4. In July 2015, successfully admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.

In China, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Central Conservatory of Music, and China Conservatory of Music are renowned in the arts community as the "Tsinghua" and "Peking University" of music institutions, representing the highest level of music education in China.
